Recipes broken
Yesterday I posted about the Boston Globe failing to download, and updated that during the day to say that nothing else was working either.
Today, it seems to be the same. Two early scheduled downloads have been running well over an hour so far. Status is "waiting" and progress is "unavailable."
This all started yesterday as soon as I updated Calibre to version 6.0

recipes are working fine for me. you likely have something on your computer blocking calibre, probably the antivirus.

I shut down antivirus (Avast) and it makes no difference.

Now calibre is running and seemingly made progress. But Avast stopped it and says it blocked "calibre-parallel.exe" because it was infected with IDP.Generic

I doubt that. It blocked and cured an issue which is why Calibre is working again.
