Auto brightness and adjustable warm light on Kindle Oasis 3

Hi everybody.

I just installed the latest version of Koreader on my Kindle Oasis 3.

I am not able to find a way to set the auto brightness or light warmth through the Koreader options.

I have found night mode or auto night mode, but these, what they do is set the background to black and the text to white.

Are these options (auto brightness or light warmth) implemented in Koreader?

As I can see, you have to set auto-brightness before starting KOreader. You are able to set only the warm light schedule in the app.

What are we talking about exactly?

Warmth control was merged to master a few days ago, so you'll need a nightly for that.

As for the other thing, did they actually re-introduce an ambient light sensor in the KOA3?

Yes, they did. And not one but two, to be able to handle both gripping position. (not being covered by your hand)

If I set the auto brightness on in the original software, when I am using Koreader, the brightness value does not seem to change in the menu automatically (is always on 9 for example), nor do I visually perceive a change in the brightness, although I did when reading with the original software.

Do you see the lighting change when you are using Koreader and there are ambient lighting variations?

Indeed I do, that's why I wrote the comment. However, KOreader cannot show these changes realtime in the Frontlight window. Which is not a surprise, actually.

Edit: The menu value for brightness doesn't change in Koreader, but the auto-brightness works. Many thanks @LittleBiG for your reply

You are absolutely right.

I just did some tests on varying the lighting conditions and yes the auto brightness does work.

It is also true that Koreader does not show any change in the brightness value, it always shows the same even though the auto brightness is working.

Thank you very much for your answer

@LittleBiG: Huh. Missed that. Thanks .

IIRC, someone did implement ALS support for the original Voyage, so it'd "simply" take someone with the device to look into that to get it to behave .
