And have Preview window maintain the resize last applied, or option to set preview size. Using Sigil 1.9.2 on Mac. |

The View menu is already there and can be used to show and hide Preview, along with an assigned shortcut key, F10.
Once you quit out of Sigil, it will remember the geometry of its main window and associated dock widgets. You might want to try perusing the Sigil User Guide which describes how to use Sigil in detail. |

Thank you. Sorry I wrote too briefly.
I did consult the Sigil_User_Guide_2022.02.01 and was aware of View > Preview > F10. I thought that since Sigil is so customizable I could add an Icon to the Main UI icon bar or even a plugin could be assigned if there was one which I didn't find nor yet aware of how to write one. The desire being a 1-click toggle. I use a 2-click and right click the top Icon bar and select > Preview from that contextual menu. It's not a big deal in the scheme of things, but thought I'd ask. More of a problem with Preview is that it does not highlight the "Find:" even though the Preview widget is dynamic. It would assist me if the highlight in code view showed in Preview or even if there was an option to show the Line & Column in Preview. It would make my work faster. I did not find a Plugin Preview that has “Find:" It's not in Readium, Bibi, nor EpubJS that I can see. Even if they did, Preview loads quicker and mirrors the Code View edits. PageEdit only Finds text on the single page, not thru the whole epub. Do tell if I'm wrong on that. Any suggestion other than get more comfortable reading text in Code View? Again, in the scheme of how much I love Sigil, these are minor issues, but thought I'd ask. |

A few things:
- Sigil plugins have their own guis and can not be used to change Sigil internal gui elements - There are no plans to add an icon to show hide Sigil given a shortcut key sequence already exists. You can just leave Preview open all the time, and undock it to place it in a separate monitor. Since Preview is a dock widget, you can of course instead stack it under the Table of Contents or some other dock widget and a single mouse click on the resulting tabs will do what you want. - Find is not done in Preview. Only CodeView. Preview just shows the resulting CodeView contents updated as need be. You can sync position of CodeView to Preview by clicking in one or the other. - Readium, EpubJS, and Bibi plugins are reader plugins to allow you see how the current epub being edited in Sigil might look under some epub3 based readers. - PageEdit is not a plugin, but instead its own editing program that can be used in conjunction with Sigil for minor edits during final proofing. It really only edits one xhtml file at a time and its search is limited to that single file. I strongly suggest getting used to working in CodeView, leaving Preview open to give immediate feedback on non-well formed xhtml so corrections can be made instantly. Also the CodeView's regex find and replace is actually quite a bit more powerful than anything you would get with QtWebEngine relatively simple Find abilities. That plus Saved Search groups can help to rapidly clean up poor html generated by other apps. Last edited by KevinH; 05-02-2022 at 05:32 PM. |
