Researching the Sage and came across a review of how awful it is when a semester worth of notes taken in the Sage disappear. Well, to be blunt, a spiral notebook is the intelligent note taking device. Doesn't erase itself randomly. They can be typed into a computer later that won't randomly erase them and if it does the memory stick backup solves the problem.

To each their own. Personally, I would rather take notes on a computer*.

*I do not take notes.

Yes if only you could export your Sage/Elipsa notebooks to PC…

Oh wait you can do that to both Dropbox and PC in a variety of formats that you get to choose from even?!?

Dropbox https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/artic...a-notebook#Six

PC https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/artic...notebook#Seven

From the instructions:
With an Advanced notebook, you can export to: Word (.docx), Text, HTML, ZIP.
With a Basic notebook, you can export to: PNG, JPEG, PDF, ZIP.

Spiral bound notebook requires you to sit and retype everything. Has limited reuses even if you only use pencil after so much erasing it’s going to become unreadable or the paper will disintegrate. They take up needless space and serve only one purpose.

My main spiral-notebook note taking days were about 55-44 years ago. I took notes in ink. I didn't always have a computer to type them into, and then it was floppy disks for storage, but before computers I'd rewrite them into a new notebook. That allowed me to clean them up and clarify as desired, and reinforced the content. Later the computer did the same. Then test studying was done from the rewrite whether paper or electronic. Completed an A.A. business with a 4.0 that way and took that to the university where I eked out a 3.92 using the same system. Notebooks don't take up that much space and sometimes single purpose devices are the best choice.

The Sage uses the Nebo format which is exportable. You can actually open the notebook on another device if you have the Nebo app.

I guess the guy who's one star review I read was unaware as he blamed the Sage for losing a semester of notes for his class. And it does have a share of the blame. But I'm just pointing out there's a reliable and inexpensive solution also available that has decades of good service to recommend it.

Students have been taking notes digitally for the last two decades. At this point in technology’s use and development not backing up your notes is really just on the user. There are plenty of things that could have happened to the Sage that would render it useless. Nor is the Sage unique in this fashion. Seems more like an irate student who doesn’t want to take responsibility for not backing up their notes. Something they could have done without even plugging the Sage in to a computer, and been done with in minutes.

I use intensively both my tablet to read pdf and my kobo to read epubs...but for taking notes, etc., I use a paper notebook, maybe I'm old school, but I'm one of those who believe that writing by hand is one of the things we humans should not afford to lose.....
