Discontinued Forma a viable option?
I am considering the purchase of a Kobo e-reader. I had a Nook HD+ years ago and I prefer reading from a larger screen. I’m not interested in listening to audiobooks and doubt that I would take advantage of the Sage’s note-taking abilities. It seems like the Forma best fits my needs (Libra 2 has smaller screen yet weighs more) but I am concerned about lack of updates/support going forward. Given Kobo’s history, what is the best guess for how long Kobo will continue to support the Forma?
TIA! |

Kobo still supports literally every model they've ever made except 3. The first two non-touch models and the mini. This goes back over a decade at this point.

I assume that has been software supports. If that is a correct assumption, I guess replacement parts in case of malfunction would be the main concern.
Thanks for the reply. |

I'm not sure if Kobo supplies replacement parts for any device, ever.

They just replace the whole thing if it's in warranty, or in EU and UK it's the seller's responsibility for a year to replace or refund if it's a maker's defect or it was misrepresented when sold. Unfortunately the retailer has no similar rights yet with the maker.

Kobo might not supply parts but it doesn't seem very hard to get replacement parts for old models like the Touch off aliexpress and eBay anyways.

I use the Forma daily and it's great. The physical page buttons are a bit mushy but it works fine after all that time. I have KOreader installed however, as I personally see it as a massive improvement over the native OS
