Device: Kobo Aura One, Aura HD (R.I.P.) :(
Not all files removed after a factory reset...

I have about 50 books in Calibre that say they are archived, it been like this for a while now (years?) even after a reset and account repair. I have all my books downloaded on the device and even went through the website archive and removed all the books.

This week i did 2x factory resets using the software and power button methods. After the reset and before it was setup, I decided to connected the device to the PC to see if it was actually a factory reset and found about 50 books in the KEPUB folder, the DB was about 1.5mb in size and the .kobo-images folder had about 130 files 20mb. Some of the books I checked are the archived ones that I found in Calibre (did not check them all), deleting this folder did not fix the issue.

I am starting believe the Kobo account may be the issue as they return after a factory reset when a synch is completed? Would like to create a new account and copy the books over but I doubt this is possible?

The only good thing that came out of this was that I realised you can update the firmware and install patches before the device is setup. I am going to the below from now on when i do another factory reset.

1. Begin the factory reset - but do not set-up the device.
2. After the set language screen, select "Don't have a WiFi network?.
3. Delete delete all files & folder in the kobo directory.
4. Eject USB (and remove cable) then reconnect.
5. After the set language screen, select "Don't have a WiFi network?.
6. Copy the firmware update files to the .kobo folder and eject USB (and remove cable).
7. Allow the device to update and then reconnect.
8. Repeat steps 5 & 7 to install other patches if required (Kobopatch, NickelMenu & config file, NickelDBus etc).
9. Setup the device as per normal.
