Dark Mode

Hi. I have the Aura One. I’m using it in Invert screen (nightmode) or Dark mode. I would like to change it back to the normal screen. Wasn’t there a Developer mode where we could do this? How can I change it back? Thanks
I’m on software version 4.30.18838

In the .kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf file under the FeatureSettings heading, did you add either DarkMode=true or InvertScreen=true?

Code:
[FeatureSettings]
DarkMode=true
InvertScreen=true
Personally, I'd suggest adding NickelMenu with either Dark Mode or Invent Screen or both of them. You can add this multiple times under main, library, reader, etc.
Code:
#
menu_item : main  : Dark Mode          : nickel_setting : toggle : dark_mode
menu_item : main  : Invert & Reboot    : nickel_setting : toggle : invert
    chain_success   : power              : reboot
#
Note that Invert Screen needs a reboot to apply.

No. It was there in “developer mode” which isn’t there anymore.

Have your tried a search on devmodeon to enable developer mode? My Forma shows Invert Screen under Developer options. Dark Mode is under the Reading settings in those devices where it is officially supported (Sage, etc.).

Or you could try either of the alternate suggestions? You could try entering both DarkMode and InvertedScreen in Kobo eReader.conf and setting them to false or install NickelMenu with the appropriate settings.

You can do devmodeon and then there should be an invert screen option in developer settings.

However the method DNSB mentioned are effectively the same but without needing to enable developer mode.

Dark mode which is relatively new will only invert when reading and doesn’t invert images.

Invert which is older and very likely what you used inverts everything in every part of the Kobo.

Which one you want is up to you.

And as DNSB mentioned Nickelmenu is the best way to toggle this setting. Nickelmenu persists through firmware updates.

Thanks for everyone’s help. I now know how to get to devmode. Hadn’t done it in awhile.
