Kobo libra 2 and calibre 3.48

Hoping someone can help. Is there a way to get calibre 3.48 to recognize and work with a kobo libra 2 ?

I'm running an older mac that which can only run OS 10.13.6 (Mac OS High Sierra) so the last version of Calibre is 3.48 and that version I understood doesn't have a driver for the kobo libra 2.

Is there a way to get this working, driver download and manual installation ?

I apologize if posted in the wrong place. It has been awhile since I have been back to this forum.

I just recieved my new Kobo Libra 2 yesterday! Yay! My Aura HD died sometime ago.

My question is, the dark mode does not work. I have reconverted all my books in Calibre to include the meta jacket as the first page. I have Calibre 5.39. I am not sure how to determine if this may be a Kobo issue, or a Calibre issue in the way that it reformatted the books? I'm not the most tech savvy person and I am hoping that some knowledgeable person may be able to help me determine this. If it is a Kobo issue then I would like to exchange it as quickly as possible.

Which dark mode are you trying?

In the Kobo, there is the option for Dark Mode. Black background and white lettering. All I get is a solid black screen.

I did some experimenting and it seems that books that I converted prior to Mar 2022 work fine with the dark mode feature of the Kobo Libra 2. So…. Could there be an issue with the latest version of Calibre?
That being said, what are the thoughts of uninstalling calibre and reinstalling the previous version that has worked for me 5.36?

If Dark Mode on the Kobo device is showing black-on-black, it usually means that a background is being set so that it doesn't get inverted properly. One of the issues that has been seen is the use of an image that is black text on a transparent background. The inversion done by Dark Mode means that the transparency is still there and shows whatever is behind it as inverted. There is a bit of discussion in the Kobo forum about this.

But, it probably means we need to see an example to see why it is happening for you now.

If you have an example book that can be legally posted, then attach it here and we can look at it. Alternatively, get a book from the MobileRead library, do whatever you normally do to it, put it on the device and see what happens. Then you can safely post that book here.

We also need to know things such as how you are getting the book onto the device. Are you sending it as epub? Converting to kepub? Or using the KoboTouchExtended driver. For the latter, we need the copy of the book from the device.
