"Show as HTML" on non-composite columns

Usually, a custom non-composite column will appear clickable in the book details.

Composite text columns have "show as HTML" which will make it non-clickable. But this option isn't available for regular columns. Is there a reason for that?

Is there anything to be done aside from having a duplicate composite for each column I want to display non-clickable?

First, using "Show as HTML" doesn't make the field not clickable. Instead it makes links inside the field, if any, clickable.

There is no way to turn off making an item searchable in book details.

@owb - I don't know when, but my impression is that the click-ability of column values in Book Details changed fairly recently; from being Tag browser category columns, to being most searchable columns.

There are some columns where, for me at least, being able to click a value has very little value, such as word counts, file sizes and precise timestamps. FX: the probability of there being more than one book in a library of 10,000 books with an ePub size of 112,407 bytes must be close to zero - and so what if there are two.

Why is Title Sort clickable but Title isn't?

My Book Details panel is a sea of blue So, I'd quite like to see colours used to differentiate what a click will do: open a format file, initiate a library search, open a website in the default browser, open another program (e.g. OneNote), or link to another book or library via a calibre:// URL. I do colour the latter two, at an individual book level, would be good if I could do it in the column definition.

That was a couple of versions ago yeah. I think it was to make for easier copying.

"Show as HTML" makes it non-clickable (well, like chaley said, except for hyperlinks inside the field). But it only works for composites.
