Help to clear an error, please.

D2D epub validator is returning an error that doesn't make sense: ERROR(RSC-001): .tmp.tmp3505da2u.epub(-1,-1): File 'OEBPS/image/letter_1.jpg' could not be found. The file that could not be found doesn't exist, nor can I find any reference to it in any of my epub files. Can anyone suggest ways I might clear this error so my epub validates? Thanks so much in advance. |

I suspect that you were only looking in XHTML files. The reference to the image file can also be in a CSS or OPF file – you need to check these as well to detect the problem. |

I looked everywhere. The odd thing is that this file was a broken link in Sigil's book browser and Sigil wouldn't delete it. So I replaced it in Sigil with a new file with a different name. The broken link file with the old name refused to go away until I quit Sigil and opened it again. Apparently it's still there somewhere, however, at least the validator is finding it, and I cant figure out how to purge it. A ghost file... |

Save the epub. Rename a copy of it from .epub to .zip. Unzip it then manually look for any file ending in .jpg and look around. If no physical file present especially with case differences, then go back to Sigil and open the epub and post a screenshot of contents.opf file manifest here so we can see what the issue might be. We cross-posted. Glad you found it! Last edited by KevinH; 03-13-2022 at 04:32 PM. |
