Problem with MOBI option

I have a Paperwhite 10th Gen and have trouble emailing MOBI books to it. I did a little digging around and found an option on Convert Books to select old, new or both formats. If I select old everything works and it looks good on my Kindle.

My problem is the option keeps changing itself back to new! Is there something I am missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Providing the book has no fancy formatting that requires the new (AZW3) format, old MOBI is the best to use for email to your Kindle, since then the cover image shows up properly.

It's a great shame that Amazon aren't supporting the option of sending books to your Kindle more thoroughly.

For me, the "both" option works the best, as it allows me to email the book to my Kindle (or use Send to Kindle) so that it will sync with my other devices, but still have the option to bold the font. While it's true that the covers don't show in grid view on the Kindle, or on the "home" screen, I don't use either of those things. The cover *does* show when the Kindle is asleep, which is nice.
