Kobo Clara reading activity

Sorry if this has already been discussed. Whenever I charge the battery on my Clara I like to reset my activity to 0 so I can check how many hours a charge lasts. I did this by going to energy savings and switching off the option Automatically share data about the features you use on page 2 then switching on again. Now I go to page 2 and it just shows a message to visit the Kobo website privacy page which, when you do, is neither use nor ornament! Any ideas folks.

What firmware version are you running? The "Automatically share data about the features you use" option is on the "Energy saving and privacy" page of the settings for all of my devices. They are running firmware version 4.25.15875. What you are describing sounds like what was on the "Reading stats" page when this option was turned off with older firmware.

Thanks for your reply David. That is the firmware version I have but where it used to say "Automatically share data about the features you use" it now says "to access your privacy settings, please visit: https://www.kobo.com/privacy

which I tried but it was no help.

A bit weird. On my Clara HD with 4.25.15875, page 2 of the Energy Savings and Privacy still shows the Automatically share data option. See attached image.

I do remember that when I synced and got that update it stuck for a while, can't remember the reason, may have failed once, so perhaps I will have to wait for the next update to sort it out?

I only have sideloaded book on the reader but that has always been the case

So I did a live chat with someone at kobo who was no help. He said there had never been an option to clear the reading stats, which is patently not true. The only way to clear them is to sign out of the account which means authorising the kobo with Adobe Digital Editions and I am concerned I may run out of authorisations. I wonder if the next firmware update may sort it out again.

You can just backup the ADE authorisation files from the Kobo and copy them back. Some of us have been doing that for years; saves increasing the authorization count at Adobe

Sorry how do you mean, backup the ADE authorisation files? Do you mean connect the kobo to the laptop and transfer across from the ADE folder by drag and drop?

Unfortunately I'm not able to connect my Kobo right now to a PC but yes; connect it to a PC and there is an Adobe directory that you can see that contains (I believe) two or three files (XML extension possibly). Save those and then just copy them back to the device.

So I had another "chat" with Kobo and was told to repair my reader. I did that but it makes no difference. She then suggested I deauthorise the account and ADE. But who wants to do that regularly. She seemed to think that the "Automatically share data about the features you use" isn't available any more.

Is it only me that is having this problem because earlier answers seem to suggest that others still have this option. Could it be a rpoblem with the last firmware update.
