Header and Footer space

hello

i just got me a sage as my 6th kobo reader now.

i just imported my books from my aura one and it all seems
to work just fine like always...

but there is one thing i dont really remember how to do anymore:

there was a trick to enable the full fullscreen reading somehow.
i diabled the footer and header lines via the menuoptions and
the foot and headspaces are empty now, but still there...

there was something to edit or add some lines to some configfile
somewhere to really make use of this empty spaces... my aura one
has this option, but im not sure how i did it back in the day...

i tried adding:

[FeatureSettings]
FullScreenReading=true

to the KoboeReader.conf but it didnt do the trick...

anyone remembers what im talking about and knows how to enable
the real full fullscreen to the sage?

thanks in advance

regards, bob

Fullscreen works differently now. What you do is got to reading setting and turn off the header and footer.

There is a patch to reduce the space when the header and footer are turned off.

as i understand it, this is patch no 13651 and i can download it
from the link in your signature, right?

so how do i proceed with patching my sage with this patch?

is there trouble by adding only this one patch? are they depending
on each other somehow?

the active firmware on my device right now after setting it up yesterday
is version 4.33.19759. is this ok for the patching?

kind regards

This is the relevant thread if you have already installed fw 4.33.19759. Follow the instructions in post #1.

The kobopatch you need to enable is Reduce top/bottom page spacer which you'll find in nickel.yaml in the patch zip file. There are many more patches you might also be interested in.

arff...

im too dumb for this... its not working...

i think i get the basic principle: i use this downloaded
patch system thingy on my pc to create the .tgz file...

this file i will use to transfer the patch to my sage...

so far so good...

i cant get it to create me a .tgz file tho...

step 3. already makes me wonder: copying the firmware into
the src folder... just move it there and keep it a zip file? or unpack
there in the scr folder?`

kinda tried both now and it doesnt work -.-

step 4. choosing which patches i want in my future .tgz file...
i tried adding it into the kobopatch.yaml, cuz i have no idea
which file of all of those else in the src folder were meant in the
instruction... all of them? there is 4 of them!!! ... yuck!

so i somehow pasted the mentioned patch into the kobopatch
overwrites thingy somehow... but didnt work... i went down to
12px with the values... was that the problem? i tried the 28 as well
tho and still no success...

anyone willing to help me a little more with some more precise and
understandable instructions? i know its super bothersome for guys
like you once you got passed figuering it out to once more spell it
out in excruciating details for someone who hasnt... but sheesh...
i never have to code or do any linux in my normal life... im not
suckerberg or something, bleah

I've attack a ZIP file of a version of kobopatch.yaml for firmware 4.33.19759. It contains all of the patches set to no. Pick the patches you want and set them to yes. Though you should read the relevant .yaml files in the scr directory as there may be more description then just the name.

it worked!

and i think i even reduced the spacer down to 14px while still creating a
successful .tgz file. i changed the values directly in the nickel.yaml...
thats where the created patchfile gets its informations from, right?

anyways... sage is working jolly fine and me iz happy abood it

thx again for the help with the example

kindest regards
