Database question: Books I don't have?
While poking around the KoboReader.sqlite database (I like to see how things work), I noticed that the content table contains several entries for books that don't exist on the device (and some I've not heard of).

Are these from those recommendations that pop up after reading a store book or something?

Yes, they are recommendations and other things. You need to look at a couple of columns to see. For recommendations, it is "IsDownload='false' and Accessibility=6 and ___UserID = ''". There are also entries for the lists in the store. I think they have "IsDownload='false' and Accessibility=-1 and ___UserID = ''"
