Kindle or Calibre Issue?

Calibre 5.35 Linux

I've been using this Kindle for years and recently don't see the books I've uploaded using Calibre. I'm not actually sure when it happened, as I don't regularly upload new books. The only thing I can say is I only noticed this after upgrading to 5.35.

I ended up wiping all the books I could see from the Kindle figuring I could just put them back. But now I see no books at all, even after I upload them again

Calibre shows the books are on the Kindle with a green tick and On device- main for all I have copied on.

I use Kindle Collections and that is able to show me the collections it creates on the kindle, from the books it sees.

But on the kindle I see only the empty collections it created, no books in either The Eagles, or Scarrow, Simon.

Even if I try searching, it comes up with nothing.

My next step is a factory reset.

Can anyone shed any light on this issue?

Many thanks for that. I must be blind for not reading it as I have been there!

I removed all the books again and copied different ones back on. One's I know worked. - and still i see no books.

Looks like a reset is required.

Thanks for the help a reset has sorted it.

I can now see all of my collections and books.

I can't register it with Amazon though, even though it's already on there. Just says try again later.

Problem probably caused by Amazon seeing I have enough balance to buy a new one!

You can't register a Kindle that has reset the time & date (usually due to flat battery). You have to fix at least the date. Older Kindles may have no method to do this other than connecting to WiFi or 3G and waiting nearly a day. Some models have a ;<command> that can be entered into search. Some can be jail broken and date set over USB networking/terminal.

I suspect it's to stop people extending borrowed books by changing the date, or else they simply forgot to add the GUI feature.

You can connect to Kindle shop with the wrong date, but you can't sync or register or use other HTTPS websites.
