Libra Can't highlight PDF files

I grabbed a few PDFs from Springer while they were given so generously for free. Now I'm reading a textbook and would like to make some highlights, but no matter what I try nothing happens. I can't use the dictionary either.
I tried a few other PDFs from other sources and the story remains the same.

I tried highlighting that textbook on PC and low and behold - it works! So it's not some draconian DRM.

Anything I can do to able to highlight on the Libra H2O?

Kobo does not support highlighting in PDFs. You can make a bookmark by tapping the top right corner of the screen. Then you can add a not to the bookmark by going to the annotations list and selecting the bookmark.

But, you can make notes on PDFs with the devices that support the stylus.
