My Kobo Sage is out of control

I am not so happy with my Kobo Sage unit. So far read 7 books with it.
First of all, battery last less than a day and now recently it is getting out of control as well. It starts to turn pages "automatically" in high speed without me touchning screen or side bar. Only way to stop the flipping of pages is to switch off power and re-start again.

Do you guys think it could be a hardware problem or software, or is this simply what to expect of a Kobo?? (I earlier had a Kindle for 8 years without a single glitch)

The batter on my Sage is awful as well. How can they mass market this kind of stuff. I still love it, but it seems so… unfinished.

I'd start with assuming a software problem and move on to a hardware issue.

The first step would be a manual factory reset (hold a page button and then press and hold the power button until the screen flashes and the reset process starts (~25-35 seconds). Then go through the setup and firmware upgrade process and try reading for a while. If the issue still persists, contact Kobo customer service. This way you have done the first steps they are likely to want to try and can move on to the return step.

My Sage has not done that fast page turn but then I seldom read kepubs.

if people keep them then why should Kobo improve it?

While battery life of the Sage is disappointing, it is not that bad and certainly not a dealbreaker, IMHO. I cannot understand claims of "only one day of use" with a depleted battery, unless wifi is on and used continously. Even then, something else must be going on. With wifi off, frontlight around 18%, 2+ hrs/day reading, some stylus use, I typically fully charge via AC once a week. The size, display quality and ability to use a stylus far outweighs the less than stellar battery, IMO.

I have my frontlight set to around 30-35%, and with 4-6 hours a day, charging every day, or at best very other day, is indeed a must.

Interesting. That's nearly 3x the use and twice as bright vs my usage, which would make a difference. Do you have wifi activated? Audiobooks? Just curious.

Don't use audiobooks, and wifi is always off, except when I turn it on to check for updates. I like reading on my Sage, but to describe its battery life as execrable is to slander faeces.

I get about 10-12 hours on my Sage. Wifi off, the light at 8-9, full refresh every page.

Your situation is not humorous but your post certainly is! Guess I'll be SOL if the power goes out at home. Good thing I have this:

allowing for the difference in frontlight settings, that seems comparable. Not an issue at home, but still an annoying "I wish it was better" kind of thing.

While everyone talks about the battery life,it seems they forget the book.Manga is a battery killer, but novel is not.
will anything be changed after kobo updates their software in the future????

No one "forgot the book" - the point is that the Sage's battery life is awful even with standard epubs.
