Change input option publishdate?

Hello,

I have a question about the date input.
Is there a setting where I can change the type of input?
I would like to enter the publication date by hand. I mean I would like to enter, "12/20/2021" or "20.12.2021" and not click through the calendar.
I'm trying to catalog my ebook collection right now, but entering the publication date is already very tedious and lengthy.
But I also want it to remain a date field and not free text.

This is one of several reasons why I don't use the MetaData Edit (MDE) dialogue box.

I edit metadata in the book list via F2, dates default to today and you can type over the segments of an existing value - all my dates are yyyy-MM-dd.

The date picker is available in this mode, but I never use it.

If you press '-' the date is set to Undefined, and an '=' will set a date to Now. That also works in the MDE dialogue box version.

You can type in the date field, you just have to enter the date in the same format as the field dispay it, do if it says Dec 2011 and you want to change it to Oct 2014 type exactly Oct 2014
