Sign Up for 40% Sony Discount on 505/700

Apparently SonyStyle Stores now have a 'Want List' for getting discounted 505 and 700 window displays. Last January I wandered into the Sony Store at Pentagon City Mall to buy a 505 and was delighted to find they had three window displays on sale for 40% off.

Anyway, I was in that same Sony store today and asked the clerk if the window displays would be available at a similar discount this year. She said they would but were already spoken for. Seems that as soon as an Reader goes on display you can now put your name on the Want List.

So, if you've got the hots for a Sony 505 or 700 and you live near a Sony Store, get your name on the list. And even if the reader you want is spoken for, you may still get it. The clerk told me that often people on the Want List change their minds when Sony calls them to come pick it up.

Do you think there's any chance they would combine this with the $100 trade-in for a PRS-500? Or does that only apply to totally new (boxed) 505s?

That would be very cool. But, knowing Sony, I doubt it.
