Question Download and Transfer via USB no longer working
I have been using Download and Transfer via USB for a long while...with Alfs help after doing so

But last week Amazon for some reason did not like my password. I tried changing it but no luck on my phone and 2 tablets
They kept sending me OTP codes and I kept creating more and more new passwords
After no luck I chatted to Amazon through the webpage
4 hours later....my gadgets worked ok
However my 2 2nd generation kindles did not
But the Amazon person in the chat said give me their numbers and she said it was sorted

However now my 2 kindles will not work through send to usb and I do not like my old or new passwords to reregister


I am now getting more OTPs from Amazon to my phone
Cant cope with 4 hour chat to Amazon again And also worry my gadgetswont work either
As I say it took 4 hours last time
Am not well and really stuck!

Question Update - Nearly There
Everytime I tried to add my new password to my two 2nd Generation kindles Amazon automatically sent me a new OTP code

After 6 or more of these being sent the old kindles finally accepted the kindles were registered

I couldnt understand why I had to change the password again as thought I could put the kindles in a drawer and not bother anymore?

But obviosly not!

So now they are registered once more

I can now again transfer my kindle books tp pc through usb! Yippee

Such a long winded process to be able to do it again!

However I tried to download a couple of kindle books on Samsung Gadgets and the option to download by usb was not there

It said no compatable gadgets found!
Why is that?

Go to the Devices tab under Content & Devices on the Amazon website to verify that your Kindles are actually considered to be registered by Amazon.

If they are registered properly it may be that the books you are trying to download require a newer Kindle device than the one you own.

Yes the devices are registered. Strange a few books now will not downloadvia usb Yet the rest now will

Some books on Amazon are Electronic Books, not true ebooks. They only work on apps. Note the Fire isn't a real Kindle ereader, it's a customised Android tablet using a special version of the Kindle Android App.
Some "books" may even only work on iOS app or Fire or PC program.

Mostly fixed layout types will not download to true Kindle ereaders.

With "Download & transfer via PC" you have to also specify which device you are downloading for. The option is greyed out if there is no available option.

If in doubt I select a sample for "Download & transfer via PC" and verify it works on my Kindle and Kobo.

Am downloading to PC Downloads folder..then add to Calibre.
But with some books there is no option to download by usb
Only just started happening.

If you tell us the ASIN of some of those books we will be better able to determine if they fall into one of the known categories where USB transfer does not apply or if something new is going on here.
