Nia Not Recognized by Windows 10
Hi all, longtime reader of this forum but first time poster. Thanks for all the tips and coupons over the years
![]() Windows 10 just does not recognize my Kobo Nia. I've tried all the tips I found in a 2018 thread from here. I bought a USB hub and my computer makes a noise when I plug in the hub that indicates it knows one is plugged in, but it doesn't recognize that anything is plugged into it. Kobo desktop, ADE, and Calibre all don't recognize the Nia, and I gather from what I read in the prior thread that contacting Kobo about this is useless, since OP of that thread said Kobo didn't even know what they were talking about. Is there anything else I can do to try and fix this? I haven't been able to find if there are drivers to install or anything. I'd appreciate any tips anyone has! |

Hey, I see nobody replied.
Is your issue still ongoing? Have you tried plugging the Nia in to another computer to see if it connects? I know this might be obvious, but when you plug the Nia in, a pop-up box opens on the Nia. You are clicking on that for it to connect, right? |

Supposedly the latest firmware (4.28.18220) may fix the USB problem.

I do wonder how old some of these computers are as the manufacturers & microsoft did not have fully compatible w10 drivers. Even a year after the official release of w10 some computers may have had older components in them that are not compatable.
I say this as a high amount of machines were not fully compatible with w10 technical specs, but windows update did say it was ok to update. They were pushing really hard for w10 to be the standard. |

I also don't see a mention of trying different cables.

Hi, my apologies but I never received a notification that this thread was replied to. The issue is still ongoing and when plugged in, the Nia recognizes it is plugged in and charging but does not offer me a pop up prompt to connect to a computer. Trying multiple cables also hasn't helped.

I thankfully fixed the subscription settings earlier and am now receiving email notifications. Unfortunately I don't have a second computer I can plug the device into.

When you plug your Nia in, does the screen display a message like the one in the attached image?

I think that the OP stated they weren't see that. But, it made me wonder if it gets displayed when connected to a charger. Most of my chargers trigger it for most of my ereaders. If it isn't being displayed for any chargers, it might suggest a problem with the socket in the device.
