Do I need to install CD to get new firmware?
Hi there. Just got a 505 second-hand a few days ago. I'm using a Mac running Calibre at home. I have VMWare fusion demo, so I could install CD on the Windows partition, but I really would prefer not to, given some of the threads I have read that it could "brick" the reader.
Can I download the firmware from the Sony website to another Windows machine and just connect the 505 via USB cable, or do I need to install and run the Sony software. More generally, do I need the firmware upgrade? My machine says it is running version 1.1.00.18040. Thanks! |
