Moving tags in the browser

Is it at all possible to move tags from one column into another via the browser? I know it's not available right now, is this because it hasn't been implemented or is it because it isn't something possible to do?

I am trying to figure out a way of taking tags from the general tag population and moving specific ones into their own column. My tags column has become way too over populated, and long. I like having heirarchal tags because they look so nice and make searching easy, however they really, REALLY make catalogs difficult and just look awful out of the brower.

I am trying to keep the tags column minimal, and then create individual columns for characters, themes, etc. Moving the tags from the tags column into the new columns is not easy. As it is I have been just copying them over in bulk, but it's not easy with a lot of tags. If I could move them in the browser between columns, it would be much easier, but if this isn't possible, then I don't know what else.

Any suggestions?

Bulk mode S&R. Find field ([a|b|c|d]), copy to destination (\1) field using REGEX
Always 2 steps
2nd pass deletes (capture) no replace

Thanks! - Now if only there was a dropdown for s&r so I don't have to manually type in all those tags....
