Why does a search enclosed in parentheses not have any results?

brings up 2 results.

Code:

(#fanficupdated:<730daysago AND #fanficstatus:"=In Progress")

brings up 0.

I just had to fix several of my saved searches because I didn't realize this. But why does it happen?

Works fine for me. The searches

Code:

(#mydate:<10daysago AND tags:="foo")

and

Code:

#mydate:<10daysago AND tags:="foo"

produce identical results (11 books). The same is true if I make them saved searches.

Are you doing something other than simply searching, for example triggering an action chain?
