Kindle cannot ssh. Losing sleep!

Note: this is on the Kindle Touch, couldn’t find the prefix for it.

I am trying to set up a kindleberry typewriter between a kindle touch and a raspberry pi 4.

I have the pi set up so that I can ssh into it from my Linux or my windows machine, and even share a screen session between the three of them.

However, I cannot get my kindle to play ball with the raspberry pi, at all.

When both are on my iPhone’s network:
[kterm]# ssh pi@raspberry.local
ssh: Could not resolve hostname: raspberry.local: Name or service not known

When both are on my local area network:
[kterm]# ssh pi@raspberry.local
ssh: Could not resolve hostname: raspberry.local: Name or service not known

When I enable USBNetworking and connect the kindle directly to the pi (my pref. setup anyway):
[kterm]# ssh pi@raspberry.local
ssh: Could not resolve hostname: raspberry.local: Name or service not known

What am I missing? I’m sure the problem is with my kindle. Neither Wi-Fi not USBN allows me to ssh.

its probably a DNS issue, try using the Pi's actual networked IP address see if that works,

if not, check iptables?
