Poke Pro - Crashes regularly since December firmware update
Since installing the firmware update 2020-12-02_13-02_3.0_f8d676e my Poke Pro has crashed regularly while I am reading it.
The touch screen and power button stop working. The only thing that will recover it is to connect a charger. This resets it to power off state, and it then restarts, having forgotten the page I was reading. After the restart the battery charge indication shows 5-15% power loss. Has anyone else seen this behaviour? And can anyone suggest a fix, please? |

Hi James; have you got any answers to this problem? I have exactly the same issue with my Poke Pro.

Still crashing, alas - no fix yet discovered.
Dammit!

How often does it crash?
Have you tried with a charging cable connected all the time? This might just be a bad battery. The first thing to do is to use ADB and see if it's Android crashing or Linux. When it crashes do you still have ADB? If you haven't got ADB working yet, you should. That bit about the charger tends to indicate that it is Linux that is crashing. |

Before replacing the battery, I could only use my Note Pro if it was plugged in because it would freeze so regularly. |

Catastrophe!
Thank you very much Question Mark, Ottischwenk & Renate for your prompt replies, which I have noted. I shall certainly upgrade the Pro again when it's rebatteried, but not sure that using ADB (which I always thought was an airport in Izmir, Turkey) is within my skill set.
Problem has become urgent. I just dropped my Poke 2 and smashed the glass so I have two unserviceable machines. I am in England - any advice on places that can repair screens / replace batteries of Oryx machines for me? |

Not sure how the Poke models are assembled. However, if it is anything like the Note models, then it should be very easy to open it up and replace the battery. I did so myself on my Note Pro and I'm not very handy at such things.
It looks like you can get a replacement battery with a connector attached on Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...0260dc3494f5-2 As a reference, you may want to check out this thread about replacing the battery in the Note model: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=339908 |

Poke3 comes apart with guitar picks on the seam.
I think that you should always figure out ADB and get it working on your devices. Does your Poke2 have a working, cracked screen or totally illegible? If you had ADB there are a number of utilities (including my AdbGrab.exe) that allow you to see the Poke screen on your desktop and click stuff. That's handy for salvaging things on your device. |

Busted Poke 2
Smashed screen - lots of cracks - but still working. I'm backed up, so no problem with saving content. I'm ordering a new battery for the Poke Pro, but AliExpress will not deliver it to the UK post Brexit so it's having to come via a German friend and will not be here soon.
