Issues with downloading metadata

Using Calibre v.5.23 on a Mac running MacOS 11.3. Since the two most recent application version updates, trying to Edit Metadata has become very problematic. If and when I am able to download any metadata at all (time-out error messages), it takes several minutes to download the data. I have made recommended changes in the 'Metadata download' application preference section - selecting a variety of source and cover priority setting. Currently these setting are back to the default settings. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Thank you.

Little Help...

Anyone monitoring or moderating this forum? Do all posting need to be reviewed by a moderator? If so, how long does that take?

Low post count users can end up in the moderation queue as an anti-spam method. Your post had no issues and was approved

Other than Amazon getting very fussy about spacing out metadata downloads, I haven't seen any real issues for a while (Kobo and Smashwords are the other two metadata sources I use, I used to use Google but got tired of the crap they returned). Basically, Amazon will not let me use bulk metadata download for more than 3 or 4 books and even with Edit metadata individually, Amazon occasionally returns no results so a retry is needed.

If what the others have said doesn't help, we need details. Which is basically what metadata sources are causing the problem. And where you are (especially if you are somewhere that might be blocking sites). If you post the log from when it fails, we can see what is actually happening and test from where we are.
