Add Tag during metadata import

So I have a kinda stupid question, is there a way to have Calibre add a tag to all books during the metadata import process? IE can I have it add a metadata_imported tag when it downloads metadata? I am in the process of refreshing the metadata for books in the library and it would make it easier to keep track of what has and hasnt been updated.

I don’t think you can do exactly what you asked, but you CAN add a tag automatically at the point you first add a book to Calibre. I make use of this facility to know which books have not yet had their metadata checked.

Crap, issue becomes when you're updating 30 books 2-3 fail, and then 2-3 more have a bad match, its hard to keep track of those then. Id love some way to hook into the metadata update process to tag those that either have been updated or to remove a specific tag when updated.

It's possible that Action Chains might be able to do something. I'd suggest asking in the thread if it's possible to run a single-field edit only if the preceding metadata download succeeds.

Some bulk updates have a Log available (before you click OK). Save that.
It really is not that difficult to read it with a Text Editor to see what happens.
(The log is for the entire session, not jut the fails).

When you do a bulk download you can choose to have all failed and rejected books marked and displayed in the book list after the process completes. Then you can easily add a tag or whatever else you like to them.
