Images in original size
Hi,
I can't find an option in KOReader that allows images to be displayed in original size. They usually extend to full width, but, when I tap on them and choose the option "original size" they are displayed smaller (if their original size is smaller). How can they appear in their original size inside the text? Thank you! |

In a book or generally in an epub file. They may be above the title or in the text.
There are times when such an image is displayed smaller in Pocketbook reader but larger in KOReader. Last edited by ichnilatis; 06-27-2021 at 07:09 AM. |

Look at the "DPI" setting in the *bottom* menu of an ePub document (or, optionally, at image-related Style Tweaks). The default setting is explicitly 96, meaning inline images are rendered unscaled.
(There may be markup trickery where this doesn't apply quite the same? This isn't my forte, someone else may have a more detailed answer for you). |

It would hardly be unusual for a book to specify it would like an image at 100% width or something. If you could upload a scrambled copy one of us could take a quick look at it.

What is "original" size?
Say you have a 300 pixel wide png, with 72 dpi, with "width: 3cm" in the css. And say we display it on a screen/device that's physically 96 dpi, but the software is set to 120dpi. 1. image pixel to screen pixel: so 300 screen pixels, 300@96 dpi = 7.9375 cm 2. obey png resolution: 300@72 dpi = 10.5833 cm, i.e. 400 screen pixels (400@96) 3. obey css: 3 cm, 113 screen pixels (113@96) 4. obey png resolution, but with "fake" screen resolution: 300@72 = 500@120, but since the screen is actually 96 dpi, that's 13.2292 cm (500@96) 5. obey css, but with "fake" screen resolution: 3 cm at 120 dpi = 142 screen pixels, 3.75 cm. I guess you mean 1, but at least 2 and 4 could also be considered to be "original" |

FWIW, I specifically meant 1:1 on the *pixel* front (i.e., unscaled, so, 1.).

I give you some examples with the attached screenshots.
The two first are from Pocketbook reader and the rest from KOReader. As you can see, in PB reader the images are displayed with the text, while in the KOReader the images are displayed in full screen size, separately from the text. Is it possible for KOReader to render images like PocketBook does? |

See what I said above, except that if it's out of copyright you can just link to it or upload it.

Try https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=135679 (if that's not already the same version). It could be the book is using some CSS that's not (fully) supported by KOReader (like max-height).

But indeed it's likely to be Jellby's edition, which might motivate @poire-z to spring into action now that we have a way to reproduce the problem. It seems to be some float-related bug. |

I can repro the 1st sample but the second one smells like the styletweak "images at full width" is enabled.

These screenshots are taken without any style tweak enabled.
@ Frenzie Do you want to upload the book, in order to test it with KOReader? I just didn't understand what do you mean with "scrambled copy"... |

Scrambled book is a modified book which you can safely upload here for further investigation. It has the same formatting as the original, but all the text and images are rendered meaningless for copyright reasons.
