Failed to export Data on 64 bit - help please.
Hi
I'm running 64 bit (v4.23) on Windows 10 Home laptop. Export got to about 75% then I got the error below. My backup folder has 14 parts (same number as the previous folder that I deleted although the part files sizes are smaller (I did delete a few books). Can anyone interpret the error below and tell me how I can get a 100% export/backup please. Many thanks in advance. ![]() Error: calibre, version 4.23.0 ERROR: Failed: Failed to export data. Is your backup folder on a non NTFS formatted filesystem? That error indicates writing to one of the export files is failing.
You can always backup manually instead, as described here: https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq...backup-calibre |

Hi Kovid
I'm exporting to an empty folder on my external hard drive (WD My Passport Ultra) which is exfat format and where I've always successfully exported to before, until the attempt above. As my laptop is NTFS, I'll create an empty folder and export to that to see if succeeds this time, then just copy over to my Passport. I'll also give it one more try directly to see if it works again in case just a glitch on my Passport at the time. I'll let you know, and many thanks for your reply ![]() |

Kovid ... UPDATE to above.
I tried exporting to my Passport (exfat) again, in a different port. This time Windows told me there was an error with the drive! So I scanned and repaired it and exported again (to my Passport) and this time it completed successfully, with no error messages. I think when I tried it above, I had either or both a faulty USB port as first time, Windows didn't tell me there was an error with the drive. But it makes sense too if my export stopped at the point on my Passport which had an error on it. So, good to know that a) it will export to exfat and b) it did also export to my laptop NTFS drive c) a good tip if anyone experiences my error above when exporting by usb to an external hard drive, is to try the hard drive in another port first and scan the external hard drives for errors too. Something I maybe should have thought of and done first before asking here! But thanks again for your input. It was your suggestion of non NTFS that made me check the format of the external hard drive .... and as in a different port got the "found errors on drive" message. |

I'd recommend testing the drive just to be on the safe side. Not Windows chkdsk as I seem to recall it sometimes has trouble with exfat. HDDScan would probably work though.
