Standalone Books: Leave Series Blank or Fill with Something?
If you have standalone books in your Calibre Library, do you leave the series field blank or do you fill it with some kind of stub (i.e., something like "No Series" or "Standalone")?

I leave it blank. what's the point of filling it? For searching you can just use series:false.

I leave it blank if it IS NOT part of a series/Universe. If the book Belongs, but has no 'place' I set the index to [0]. I use a fraction if it has a place (eg 5.2)

I would put Standalone as the tag. That way, if you are looking for a standalone book to read, you just have to look in that collection.

Up until now, I've been leaving it blank. But, now that I'm using a Kobo instead of a Kindle (which handles series information better), I was thinking of putting something like Standalone in for the very reason you mentioned.

For my uses, a blank series is standalone.

I tried Standalone as a series, but my OCD gave me fits. Either I'd have to assign them an arbitrary book number or leave them all as Book 1. So, I got rid of that and just assigned all of the a tag of Standalone Books. Since I'm sending those tags over to my Forma to be Collections, that'll work fine.
