Blayre, Christopher: The Purple Sapphire and Other Posthumous Papers. v1. 15 May 2021

These “selected papers,” deposited with the fictional Christopher Blayre, Registrar of the University of Cosmopoli, are the weird and supernatural experiences of the professorial staff of the University.

A series of tongue-in-cheek weird tales and sf stories, featuring a cursed jewel, demonic possession, “time travel”, mediums and spiritualists, visitors from Venus, and other strange and uncanny episodes, with more than a few smiles and chuckles to be had.

Note that “The Cheetah-Girl” was excised by the [original] publisher on grounds of obscenity and released in a very limited privately printed edition. (— Encyclopedia of Science Fiction)

==========
“Christopher Blayre” was the pseudonym of Edward Heron-Allen FRS (born Edward Heron Allen) (17 December 1861 – 28 March 1943); an English polymath, writer, scientist and Persian scholar who translated the works of Omar Khayyam. He produced many academic works; as well as a number of novels and short stories of science fiction and horror written under his pseudonym.
(—adapted from Wikipedia.)
