Errorconverting ePub > Mobi with really old version

If the problem is with Calibre, you won't get that ePub to convert. You really should be using the latest version. What system and OS version are you using? Are you able to try the latest version 5.x? If not, are you able to try version 4.23?

I don't see any mention in the log about DRM, but just to be sure... this epub is DRM-free and can be opened and read with the calibre ebook viewer?

Looking at the log file, it has already reached the output stage (creating the MOBI from the XHTML). A DRM-ed EPUB would not get that far.

To the OP: You could try an EPUB-to-EPUB conversion first, and if that works, try converting the resulting EPUB to MOBI.

Thank you, It's already DDmed, but I can convert it to a mobi. Yes, I can read it on calibre but not on my Kindle.

What happens if you convert to KF8 (AZW3) instead of Mobi? Do you really need Mobi? Is your Kindle that old that it doesn't support KF8?

As the book is still in copyright, you'll need to make a bug report on the calibre web site so that you can attach the book as a private attachment.

I took a look at the calibre source code to see what could cause that error. I found that it will happen if the text color is set to a decimal value, which is not allowed for a color. For example this will trigger that error:

<p style="color:1.5">Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet</p>

This will fail to convert to MOBI even with the current calibre version.

You should be able to find the problem in the original book file by opening the EPUB in the calibre editor and using the "Check book" tool.

Thank you, I've tried this but still it fails to do so.

Does epubcheck now give your epub file a clean bill of health?

Have you tried renaming the epub to .txt from .epub and emailing it to your Kindle apps email address? You'll have to jump through the whitelisting hoops and so forth as well.

Why not use Books (formerly iBooks) and read the ePub directly?

I tried this - Thanks yet the same result. It already a 'free'.
