Drop Caps Disappears
Hi everyone, I added Drop Caps to my eBook epub in Caliber and in View mode it looks good, but when I use Read mode Drop Caps disappears!
May someone teach me to fix it? Thanks a lot! |

You are going to have to give a lot more information including the CSS and samples of your dropcap implementation to get a meaningful answer. If the book is not copyrighted or you have the rights to it, you could attach it to a message in this thread.

Also, Your viewer needs to honor (be set) to use Publishers styles.
But we really need to see snips of the code AND relevant stylesheet sections |

Attach the screen caps. Putting them in a word processing document it not the way to show what you are trying to show. Your screen caps are too small as they are in the Word document and it too much hassle for us to make them larger. That's your job to make them clearly readable.

That hurt my old eyes.
![]() I did not ask for a 'screen capture'. It is kinda hard to scroll, switch to the CSS ![]() |

Looking at your posts, a simple copy and paste of the CSS styles and HTML text would have been easier than your Word document.
As it is, I would suggest that you are not error checking your epub. Looking at where you show: Code:
<p class="Capitular"> <p class="block14">Sofia estava consultando etc. When I typed the above into an epub in Sigil and added the 2 </p>s, epubcheck threw the following error message: Code:
Col: 20: ERROR(RSC-005): Error while parsing file: element "p" not allowed here; expected the element end-tag, text, element "a", "abbr", "area", "audio", "b", "bdi", "bdo", "br", "button", "canvas", "cite", "code", "data", "datalist", "del", "dfn", "em", "embed", "epub:switch", "i", "iframe", "img", "input", "ins", "kbd", "label", "link", "map", "mark", "meta", "meter", "ns1:math", "ns2:svg", "object", "output", "picture", "progress", "q", "ruby", "s", "samp", "script", "select", "small", "span", "strong", "sub", "sup", "template", "textarea", "time", "u", "var", "video" or "wbr" (with xmlns:ns1="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:ns2="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg") or an element from another namespace Code:
<p class="Capitular block14">Sofia estava consultando etc.</p> Last edited by DNSB; 05-12-2021 at 02:06 PM. |

The problem with a drop cap is that it may look good on your setup, but it may not look good on my setup. I may want a different line height and/or a different font and so the drop cap doesn't work well. The thing to do is to just forget drop caps.
