What files are necessary?
I've been slowly consolidating my ebooks, magazines, & comics to my media server and thought I'd start the process of getting calibre set up to give me remote access.
Since I've been moving this stuff already, it's already organized in its own folder structure. Obviously, when importing it all into calibre, it's recreated in calibre's library folders. I've setup calibre's library folders on my home server. My home server gets backed up. I already had my books at: server/Books server/Comic Books server/Magazines ...and calibre is storing them at: server/z- calibre/Books server/z- calibre/Comic Books server/z- calibre/Magazines ...is there any reason to keep the files in my original folder structure? I'm assuming not, but just want to make sure before I delete them and run into some future issue I'm not expecting at all. I'd appreciate the help and input. |

If you want, you can use the GetFileName plugin to save the original path to a column. It'll only work on books added after you've set up the plugin though.

I'm sorry... I'm confused. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with my question, although forgive me if I'm missing something.
I don't care about the original path. I'm wondering if I need to keep the original files. |

Sorry. I'm not good with comprehension sometimes.
You shouldn't need to keep the original files unless the original filedate is important to you. But GetFileName can save that anyways. |

Great! That's what I thought, but like I said, I just wanted to be sure.
Thank you! |
