Word limit per line / Background darkening
On widescreen monitors, sometimes there are too many words per line to read if you have the Viewer maximised. Changing the page layout/margins based on pixels can limit the words per line in a correct manner only if the window is not resized and the font size stays the same.
For a more ergonomic, faster and less tiring reading experience, I have following suggestions:

There's not going to be a character based words per line limit. As for dark mode just choose it in the viewer preferences under colors.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Thanks, but what I meant was the background tasks, everything that is visible and potentially distracting behind the Viewer window when I resize it to limit the length of the line. |

The viewer cannot darken things outside its window. And you can limit line length just fine by simply specifying the appropriate screen area to use to render text in the viewer settings.

Oh, I thought it could be done by adding an additional layer to cover the background, but I don't know about the technical limitations of this project, maybe it would turn out too complicated.
Anyone knows a tool that can darken everything except the active window? Yes, I just found that out, it works pretty well for me, although you can't directly limit the number of words with it. |

Thanks for sharing!
This is my layout right now: ![]() ![]() I have added some space at the top margin because my screen is at an elevated position, the page should not start much higher than the eye level for optimal reading. Also I have only 1 column because I wanted to avoid having to turn my head. The problem is, now there is too much white space at the sides, which can be a bit bright to the eyes. Ideally, it would be possible to make the blank areas to the sides of the pages darker. I'm still experimenting. |

By the way, f.lux has a Vignette Mode which goes very well with my layout. Helps keeping the focus on the centre.
