Hello! I have issues regarding using a ro-ro dictionary that I have uploaded on
my Kobo Clara HD. The letters ș and ț are not visible at all in the dictionary. The words containing those characters appear without them, with nothing in the place where they should be. I suspect that this is due to the keyboard on the eBook reader that lacks these characters, or due to the OS font. What could I do to fix this? Software version: 4.26.16704 |

Apparently, the default font Kobo uses in the dictionary does not contain these glyphs. You simply need to change the font using the 'Dictionary text font-family / font-size / line-height' patch.
https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/l...guage/romanian Option 2, how to fix it: Change the Georgia and Avenir font to newer versions that have these glyphs (I checked) ![]() there is a lot written about it here. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...=323350&page=7 In your specific case, I would advise you to use option 2. Option 3 is the most unlikely, but still: when creating the dictionary itself, there were problems with these symbols, you need to look at the dictionary ![]() Last edited by Semwize; 03-21-2021 at 09:41 AM. |

I wasn't, however, able to find a place where I can download the latest versions of the Georgia and Avenir fonts, in order to apply the 2nd Option. |

Links to commercial fonts are strongly discouraged here, but in general there are many options ...
Georgia can be taken from standard Windows fonts. You can grab these fonts from the Barnes & Noble NOOK Firmware, try this one ... Why is this option better for you - because the titles / series of books with these glyphs will also be crookedly reflected, but if you replace the fonts, everything will be OK. There are more option 4 ![]() Write Kobo, pour a bunch of dung on them, claiming when they finally update the system fonts ... Last edited by Semwize; 03-21-2021 at 12:38 PM. |

It's unlikely Kobo will update their fonts until they announce support for Romania

Where did I write about languages officially supported by Kobo?
Nook doesn't officially support a lot of things either, but they updated Avenir and Geogia a long time ago ... On the plus side of Kobo, I will say that with firmware 4.20 it became possible to change system fonts. On your own ![]() Last edited by Semwize; 03-21-2021 at 01:25 PM. |

Do you also complain that Kobo does not support Braille? |

@DNSB
Since I changed everything for a long time, everything supports me. What makes you think that I'm complaining? I'm just stating a fact. And that the font should only support those languages that are specified officially is a completely empty talk. A competent manufacturer cares about attracting new customers / users, so he tries to take into account everything - including languages that he does not OFFICIALLY support. Moreover, this is just an UPDATE. |

I don’t know which dictionary you are talking about above, but if it’s about that dictionary that I vaguely remember doing sometime, then it was so-so dictionary - about 10k words. Or even less.
try dicthtml-ro.zip wordcount=107051 untested (don't speak Romanian) Last edited by Semwize; 03-26-2021 at 04:11 PM. |
