I have a weird issue, I think.
I am able to successfully download books from inside and outside my private network, provided I connect to calibre-server via the appropriate IP address and port. If I try to use the nginx reverse proxy that I set up, I am unable to download any books, even though the library will load along with the "thumbnails" and metadata of all of my books. The error report from calibre-web and the error logs for nginx always center around the content server being unable to find jpegs, css files, and other resources in the library: Code:
[error] 1086#1086: *3890 open() "/usr/share/nginx/html/book-file/95/EPUB/4158303/16138093020/images/00052.jpeg" failed (2: No such file or directory) If it helps, my server OS is Ubuntu 20.04. Last edited by moorekbk; 03-12-2021 at 02:48 AM. Reason: typo |

Well, it was a weird issue...
After tinkering around a bit, I decided to dive in and watch the debug logs for nginx to see if I could glean any info from that. Set nginx up for debugging, started a tail on nginx's error.log...and I was able to access the server using nginx. Not on my computer or tablet, but my phone. After that, I cleared my desktop's browser cache of references to calibre, restarted the network manager, restarted my tablet, and now everything is working on all three devices it seems. Honestly, I am not 100% sure what made it work. |

Seemingly Fixed
Well, it was a weird issue...
Sat down to watch nginx logs and figure this out. Set up nginx for debugging, added a tail to nginx's error log...and the browser was able to access the server via the nginx proxy without issue. Not on my desktop or tablet, but on my phone. Seeing that it worked there, I restarted the desktop's network-manager, cleared the browser cache of any reference to the virtual host, cleared the desktop hosts file of the commented out references to the virtual host, restarted calibre-server, restarted the tablet, and everything was coming up roses. Honestly not 100% on what was causing the issue. I do know that I now have a much greater respect for how many different pieces make up my ebook-serving environment and how each one need to be carefully considered when doing something like this. |
