Renaming output files

Hi, I would like to rename all my Calibre output files to remove the author name that was added to the end of the epub after the bookname (author\book\bookname - author.epub). It is causing many of the book titles to be truncated. Can anyone help or do I have to go through all 639 of my books and do it manually?

There is nothing you can do. That's the way the eBooks are stored in the library directories. But when you send to your device or save to disk, you can setup the template to have it saved as you want without the name of the eBook being truncated.

Besides, when you are working with the GUI, you don't look at the file names. You only really see them after you've exported and even them maybe not. The metadata is not truncated and your program to read eBooks can display the full title.

If you start to change the file names in your Calibre library manually, you'll destroy your library. Calibre needs the names as they are to work. So don't do it. Set up a template for saving to disk and then save the books to another location on your hard drive. The files in the library should not be touched, ever.
