I changed the titles of some books and I lost all the annotations
Hi all.
I was trying to change the title of some ebooks in my kindle using calibre but I lost all the annotations. Well, sort of. Before doing anything I made a copy of "My Clippings" file in txt. I tried to to the find-replace thing with the new titles but the hightlights doesnt appears on the kindle. I dont know what else to do. |

Here is some information that might help explain what went wrong.
By default the file name used to store each book is derived from the title and author. If you change one of those and resend the book you will essentially be creating a new book on the device. Any reading history or annotations associated with the original are lost. The "My Clippings" file contains a log of annotations that you have made on that Kindle. It does not contain the actual highlights used by the Kindle. Those are stored in the .sdr folder associated with each book. |

Hi, kind of same problem. I change devices (KINDLE), and I saved the myclippings file on txt, I placed it in the new kindle, however when I highlight a book, it started a new "Myclippings", any chance I can merge those, or do I have to highlight all previous books again in the new device.
Thanks in advance! |

As to copying the actual annotations to the new device in a way that will let the device show them, this isn't really a calibre problem. I would suggest you ask in the Kindle forum. |
