html -> epub: splitting doesn't work

Hi,

I executed the command

ebook-convert freedom.html .epub -vv --language "en-US" --chapter '//*[@class="ChapterNo"]' --level1-toc '//*[@class="ChapterNo"]' --disable-font-rescaling --extra-css "Styles.css" --no-default-epub-cover

and got an epub with a single html fle inside. (all details are in the attachment)

How to convert the original html to an epub where each chapter is in a separate html?

Try using the GUI to do an EPUB to EPUB Conversion with appropriate Structure Detection-> Detect chapters at (XPath expression): settings - there a tool to help you do that.

Works perfectly. Some sites need images pasted and text pasted as "unformatted text" to avoid stupid hard to remove web styles.

Use pagebreak before and level styles for Chapter headings.

Delete the ToC. Delete the <a id> in the chapter header line. Then change the <p></p> to <h2></h2> for all headers for the different sections/chapters. Then Calibre will easily be able to convert as you want.
