Adobe Digital Editions to Kobo Clara HD on Android tablet?

I was given an Android tablet and would like to use it to access library ebooks and audio books. I will listen to the audio books on the tablet and would like to transfer the library ebooks to the Clara HD.

Device name: Galaxy Tab A(2016)
Model: SM-T280
Android version: 5.1.1

I would like to connect the Clara HD to Adobe Digital Editions(ADE) on the tablet. I would use an OTG cable for the connection. Would this work to transfer ADE library books the Clara HD?

I don't use Windows, but have borrowed a Windows PC to learn how to use ADE with the Clara HD for library book transfers.

On the Windows PC I have transferred Cloud Library and Freading checked out library books to my Clara HD.

Cloud library. Borrow the book, it downloads. Explore to the book file. Open with ADE, copy to the library. Copy to the connected Kobo reader.

Freeding. Download the book, save to acsm file. Open acsm file in ADE. Copy book to connected Kobo reader.

When I get an OTG cable for the tablet, I will try the same thing.

Adobe DRM licences devices to use a specific Adobe ID. A licence key file s delivered to software on a device and is used to fetch and unlock the actual book file
It is doubtful that a book which unlocks on the tablet can then be moved to a different device.
But library books can be borrowed read , returned on an android tablet using the Libby app, or the older overdrive app.
The Libby android app allows multiple devices with the save overdrive email and password combo to access a book, and also syncs reading position.
But Clara hd cannot run libby

NB. if you use overdrive/libby - it hides all the confusing adobe ID/ DRM stuff under the bonnet. you just create an email/password combo for overdrive and asssociate that with a library card number, and then it just works.
You never need to concern yourself about adobe ID, or faff about deciding which of the multiple ADE versions you need for compatibility, or have to deal with ASCM licence files...
and the libby reader app is quite good- it compares favourably with e.g. the kobo android reader app

I much prefer to read ebooks on the Kobo Clara HD. My library has Overdrive, Cloud Library, and Freading. The Overdrive library books are synced easily on the Clara HD. Cloud Library and Freading require the extra steps.

Books I purchase can be managed through Calibre on Linux computers, I use one Linux workstation when at home and a Linux laptop when away from home.

Ok. If you do solve it please post details.
I once wasted a lot of time trying to get library loan books which I had checked out with Adobe ID, on a pc. to then open in other apps on other devices. Even though I licenced the devices where I could, via ade, and logged the apps into my overdrive account, it was a hugely frustrating process. Going back and forth with overdrive and Adobe support was no help. It's a secretive process and they do not want to disclose exactly how stuff gets authorised, and how it fails.
I thought that only the kobo aura one could work directly with libraries, and that other Kobos needed a fiddly process of using pc as intermediary, which was failure prone. But maybe I am out of date on that.
I settled for reading in Libby and not trying to get library books to open in bookari or aldiko.both apps allegedly support Adobe DRM.

It's been several firmware versions now that the Aura One and newer Kobo ereaders have Overdrive integration. Though I wonder at describing the use of ADE as an intermediary on a computer as fiddly. I've used the same email address for my Adobe authorizations and have had very few problems for over a decade other than having to beg for more authorizations on a couple of occasions until I started to save the activation file from my Kobo to restore after a factory reset.

On the device, there is a directory call ".adobe-digital-editions". Save the contents of that after registering the device.

On your Kobo, there is a directory named ".adobe-digital-editions" which contains 2 files, device.xml and activation.xml. Save the activation.xml and restore it to the directory after a factory reset.

Edit: Blast! I should have read davidfor's message before replying. The Redundant Department of Redundancy is still active.

on a computer, ADOBE DRM is OK. But they did invalidate my password, and millions of others, after they suffered a huge hack some time ago.
Also, after several device swaps & upgrades I tried to ask how many activations I had left and could I have somemore please. I got a total muppet on live chat who did not understand the question but we got there eventually

Back to "fiddly": I checked out with overdrive on PC, and provided my overdrive credentials to two apps which claimed support for Adobe... aldiko and Bookari. Neither could open a transferred book - and i tried various different permutations with different library books.
there's probably an old thread where I ranted in boring detail about all the failed permutations

I do recall seeing in other threads, much grief over the ADE - Kobo thing failing with some versions of ADE. There are versions 2, 3 & 4 in the wild and I don't think they all play nicely with Kobo.

and also having to come here for help when my ADE v1.7.1 stopped working with library books, and a download of a v2.something did not work either , and had to follow advice to locate one specific old v2 release to be able to continue to borrow books.
