Backing up Calibre library

Hi

If I want to save a copy pf my Calibre library, can I just find the folder and copy it to another location. Or do I need to use the inbuilt backup option?

Thanks

Yes.

Only if you want to.

Note the inbuilt option also backs up the config folder (on Windows, %AppData%\calibre\) for easy restoration. If you decide to do manual backups, make sure to also make a copy of this folder.

There is no inbuilt backup solution - the export/import feature was implemented as a solution to the problem of moving a users calibre data from one computer to another - including a different type of computer, e.g. from Apple Mac to a Linux etc.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't use it for backup - but IMO its sub-optimal.

Thanks. I shall have to research rsync and others and work out how to use it. Looks interesting
