With my Note 2, if I put my super Xiaomi charger on it, it can suck up about 2.6 amps (@5v) and speed charge at 120% an hour. However, that is faster than my phone which was designed to be paired with that charger. I swapped the high speed charger for a low speed one to cut the current to 1 amp, it's not like it needs charging quickly anyway. I just don't trust Onyx power electronics...
Does anyone know what the ratings are for these devices? As I've had an original Note lose its capability to charge after a couple of months, I treated the Note Plus replacement very carefully and it seems to have retained most of its capability after a couple of years. With the Note2/3/Air and other later devices I guess they are speed charge capable, I just can't seem to find the specs. The Note Air especially should be capable of really quick charging with its twin batteries, it would be really interesting to see whether that is indeed engineered properly. ( If you don't have a proper USB tester to measure the current, you can use Accubattery app, which is sometimes wildly misleading but doesn't seem too bad on giving current during charging. A USB tester is very handy to discover that you're about to blow up your device, and/or the difference between different devices and cables in your cupboard - they vary a great deal more than you might expect!) |

Your charger should adjust the maximum value to adjust so you shouldn't get any overloading.

It should...but do you trust Onyx to handle that properly? They seem to have issues with batteries from my personal experience and from several posts on this forum. I changed the battery on my Kindle DX but that was because it was 8 years old...not 2 months before the batteries died..
