macOS ebook-viewer can't be opened separately
I used to set ebook-viewer as the default epub reader for macOS, but after updating from 4 to 5.1, ebook-viewer can no longer be opened separately, but only from the main calibre application.
I miss the using ebook-viewer directly without going through calibre.

it can still be opened by itself, unless you are using homebrew. Dont use homebrew.

I'm not sure if this is related to SDK's problem, but I'm also having an issue with using ebook-viewer as a default app for epubs. I can open ebook-viewer as a standalone app fine, but if I try to open an ePub or Mobi *with* ebook-viewer, nothing happens. Is this the expected behaviour, or is something wrong? I'd like to use ebook-viewer as the default reader, *even without adding things to the Calibre library*. (Calibre 5.7.2, Catalina 10.15.7, "normal" dmg installer)
