Nope. Never will. You need a web browser for that or any other of the "fancy" epub3 features like vertical text, javascript or ... ehm ... almost everything.

Also, playing not-made-for-eInk videos on eInk halfway decently would require an EPDCv2 device (e.g., Mk. 7 on Kobo), so, even a DIY approach would really not be worth the effort, for what I consider a gimmick. (Like, err, much of the ePub spec? ).

I think there's an rM experiment with... gstreamer or something, though. But with pre-dithered content, much like @geekmaster's demo back in the Vizplex days on Kindle .

An EPDCv2 allows you to bypass that requirement, thanks to the fast bitonal ordered dither handled by the PxP. (Well, an EPDCv2 where that's not broken, actually... Looking at you, Kindle Zelda/Rex ).

A epub3 compliant engine should be able to run Doom too.

They're valid in epub2 and epub3 books, but according to the epub2 specs, rendering engines may ignore them:

ADE ignores them. So using them is not a good idea since the most used software ignores them.
