Rattle
Just joined the ranks of Cybook owners and need to check something before I start contacting the reseller.
Would I be correct in saying that the device internals should not cause a rattle in the device. At the moment there is a noticeable rattle from the device but am unsure if this is a defect or a 'feature' |

No rattle in my device, nor my wife's. Could be nothing, could be trouble. I would sort it out, these things are not cheap.

It certainly shouldn't do that!

I did some "experiments" last night, taking my Gen3 out of its case and shaking it, and it does rattle a little, but it's just the side buttons, which have a bit of "play" in them. If that's all you're hearing, there's certainly nothing to worry about.

![]() Unfortunately it's a bit of a toughie as I don't have another unit to compare with. From the horses mouth, "there is usually no rattle emanating from the device" so I'm going to err on the side of caution and get it checked. |

Mine rattles a bit as well, identified that it's the battery. Not worried about it, I could open the battery caver and fit something, but its not bad enough to worry about.

I think you're spot on in saying that if there is internal movement, then it's the battery. The original poster could easily verify this by removing the battery and seeing if the "rattle" disappears as a result. You don't lose any content by doing this.

Who knew finding a screwdriver small enough to open the battery compartment would prove so tricky
![]() It was indeed the battery, I've taken to using the Nokia 61xx hack to sort it (a little foam pad to fill the dead space and stop the battery moving about). Thanks to all for the help (and sorry for not putting it in the correct section). |
