Gave up on Oasis2 and got Kindle front LED
I got my Oasis2 back in January of 2018 and never really liked it. I didn't like the shape, and the way it was hard to hold. I believe part of that was due to me being a lefty. I also didn't like the battery life it never got anywhere close to the battery like I am use to.
Amazon last week offered the Kindle for $59 and also a chance for me to do a trade in. I got $75 for my Oasis and I spend $80 and I got the Kindle without aids, and I also got a cover for the Kindle for a little over $5, and to boot I got 3 months of Unlimited. I am happy with the Kindle, and I am asking myself why I ever spend so much for the Oasis. |

Why did being a lefty make a difference? I thought you could turn it so the buttons are on the left side and reconfigure it so that it worked the way you'd want it to.
I agree otherwise; I got a Kobo Forma and it's much nicer to hold. Plus I like how you can have it group and display the books according to series, authors, and collections. |

I never liked the thicker area on the buttons side of the Oasis. And without a case the Oasis was hard to hold on to. I did like the larger screen. I wish the Kindle was 7 inch.

I use the Kobo Libra Lefthandedly, though I'm mostly righthanded. It's a similar idea of thing to an Oasis and has a cover.
I think Hebrew, Japanese, maybe Arabic and also English translated Manga all open with the spine on the right? |

I don’t understand why keep so much on an ebook reader, I keep only what I am reading, and maybe the next few books I plan on reading. As soon as I finish a book I remove it from my kindle then I start planning my next book or books behind what I have just started to read. Normally I am reading 2 or 3 books at a time, and I am a sucker for a good series so I may have the whole series of books listed out and ready to read. I never have more than a few hundred megs of my reader’s memory used. It just doesn’t make sense to me to have such a cluttered up ebook reader. Sure I have about 4000 books in calibre, and most of them I have either read or are in my list to read. I also when ever possible read from kindle unlimited.

Question what do you do when your ebook reader dies or crashes. It has happened to me due to having it loaded with books and it crashed due to trying to index all of the books that I may or may not read in the next year. I learned my lesson, it keeps the battery life up on my ebook reader as long as the battery is healthy, and my ebook reader wakes up much faster. I am reading more now than before but still no more than 3 books a week. When I read a book I start at the beginning and read it all, then I remove it. I do a series the same way first to last, I never reread, that is a bore to me. I tried that with the a book I read over 10 years ago and stopped because I still remember the whole book. I read for entertainment and to relax now. Before I retired I read for my profession and had no time to enjoy leisure time reading like I would had liked. But I still retain almost every thing I read back then too. And yes I still have the materials from my profession and I can still answer most of the questions I need to at times. I retired almost 7 years ago

None of my ereaders has crashed yet. Or died. But if it should happen, I'll just use another. I have four at the moment and they're not likely to die all at once.
I have no complaints about battery life, indexing or anything else. All my ereaders work just fine. I reread often. I also rewatch movies. What can I say, my memory is poor. ![]() Last edited by Sirtel; 11-08-2020 at 11:25 AM. |

At first it was really great but over the years I have had it, it has gone down to about 4 hours. I am finding that the Kindle is going for over 16 hours of reading time, before needing a charge, but I normally do not us the front light at all.

The lower-right-hand corner digs into my right (holding and dominant) hand. I'm bony and it drives me nuts. I've been considering a new one, but I'm still so PO'ed about how unergonomic the Oasis is, I'm reluctant to even shop for the next/new Kindle eInk. (Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrumble). I do really like the base Kindle with one of the cheap covers, it is working great for me. And I am finding that I am even reading more now that I have it. It doesn’t tire me out holding it or reading from it.

I assume you're using it without a case, which may be your preferred method? I could never use mine without a case because it's way too slippery in my hands. However! - my Noreve case (expensive) works wonders and also fully protects the unit. As well, it gives me additional holding power, when folded back, due to the soft front part of the case. |
