Backlights in kobo 905C

go other nigth i was reading in my kobo 905C (kodo light TouchLC) and i decided that i will disassembly it and instal a backlight.

I disassemble the Kobo today, and what has my surprise when i saw that it already has the backlight led installed!

Did anyone knows how to activate this backlight?

If i need to change anything in the board, or if i install the firmware from the 905A it will work?

The motherboard code is 37nb-e60610+4d1 exactly as the one in this annonce:

You have a Kobo Touch and it does not have a front light.

Very probably what you are looking at are the IR LEDs used for the touch screen. The Touch has never had an illuminated screen in any of it's 3 variants. There is also the point that a backlight would not work since the eInk screen is opaque.

You can't easily add built in light to a Kobo Touch, or indeed any eink based reader as the rear of the screen is opaque. The lit ones use a special light pipe layer under the front of the screen. I'd not say it's impossible to add such a thing to a IR touch screen, though unlikely. Pretty much impossible with capacitive or resistive touch. Probably possible on a screen that only uses a Wacom stylus as it doesn't actually need to touch the actual screen and has a built in pressure sensor. A Wacom pen/stylus is actually powered by the device.
