Wrong order of wors when converting Arabic ebook

Hi there,

I have tried converting some ebooks (epub) in Arabic for a Kindle.

The words look good, but the order of words is wrong. For example, this would be the correct right-to-left order:

.Arabic in sentence a is This

When I open the epub (before conversion) in my computer, in Calibre's Viewer, it looks good. But when I open it in my Kindle, the text is aligned to the left (as in English) and the order of words is left to right (as in English).

Is there any special setting that I must use to keep the correct order and alignment?

Are you converting your book to KFX format for Kindle?

As far as I know that is the only Kindle format that correctly renders books in Arabic.

calibre, version 5.8.1
ERROR: KFX conversion failed: Cannot convert عالم صوفي Conversion error: Exception('Kindle Previewer 3 not installed as expected. (C:\\Users\\souto\\AppData\\Local\\Amazon\\Kindle Previewer 3 missing)')

Any tips?

As DNSB wrote, install the Kindle Previewer. See the Installation section of the plugin documentation for more information.

I have managed to install the plugin and I now see the KFX format in the conversion dialog. However, when I send the book to my kindle, the result is the same: still left to right directionality.

Anything else that I might be doing wrong?

Possibly something is wrong with the metadata or html coding of the book. Check that the language of the book is set to Arabic and the text direction is rtl.

The stylesheet.css file has `direction: rtl;` in every element and every html has `dir="rtl" lang="ar" xml:lang="ar"` in the root html file.

Is there anything else I should check?

The original epub file looks fine when I open it in Calibre Viewer, which makes me think that the problem must be in the conversion into the format that is sent to my Kindle.

I don't know what could be happening here.

A sample that demonstrates the problem would help. You could produce an EPUB with a couple of paragraphs of generic text, convert that to KFX, and verify that it reads incorrectly. Then if you post both the EPUB and KFX files here I will take a look and see if I can tell what is going wrong.
